In all of my years of game developement, starting as far back as 1984,
I have never come across a tool that is as easy to use as "GameMaker".
GameMaker is a complete 2D sprite based engine developed by Mark Overmars.
He has graciously made it available to all who would like to use it.
And best of all...It's Free! Not only is it free to download, but
the creations you make with it are yours with no strings attached.
(That includes retail sales with no strings attached.)*See Footnotes.
People often think that because something is free that it must be
sub-standard. I am here to tell you that this is not the case with
GameMaker. I have developed several game titles with it and am very
pleased as to how they came out. Believe me, I pushed every aspect
to the limit!
Enough praise about GameMaker...let's get on with the cool stuff.
What you'll find here
In this section I will be covering advanced concepts, tutorials, and
examples. So strap in and get ready.
What you will need
All you need to get started is download GameMaker from Mark Overmars
web site at http://www.cs.uu.nl/people/markov/gmaker
If you are new to programming with GameMaker, I strongly suggest you
download the documents that are available on the GameMaker site, and read
through them. Once you are familiar with the interface and
functionallity, you should find the following to be very helpful in
realizing the full potential of GameMaker.
